Clean Energy Capital Ltd ('CEC') is thrilled to announce the appointment of renewable finance expert Matt Williams to the Board of Directors as Chief Finance Officer ('CFO'). Matt brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having previously served as CFO of Blue Energy, one of the UK's fastest-growing independent renewable energy investors.
Matt's background in finance, coupled with his proven track record in financial strategy and management, will be invaluable as CEC continues to grow and expand its reach in the renewable energy sector. Matt will play a critical role in driving the company's financial goals and overseeing its financial operations.
CEC is a renewable energy investor and developer focused on decentralised power, transforming the supply of clean, low-cost energy to Large Power Users ('LPUs') in the UK and abroad. Following its successful fundraising, CEC continues growing aggressively to scale its development pipeline in the UK and abroad.
"We are excited to welcome Matt to the CEC team" said Alexander Goodall, CEO and Founder of CEC. "His experience in capital deployment and leadership will be instrumental in helping us achieve our financial goal of raising funds in excess of £100m, towards the end of 2023 and drive our growth in the years to come."
Matt commented, "I am very impressed with the progress that CEC has made to date in such a short space of time, as well as the ambition and passion of the management team in building a successful clean energy business. I look forward to helping CEC achieve the next stage of their growth plans while also continuing to decarbonise the world's energy systems."
At Blue Energy, Matt was instrumental in implementing financial strategies that helped the company achieve significant growth and financial stability. Blue Energy acquired, funded, and constructed over 330MWp of onshore wind during Matt's 6 years on the senior leadership team, from a starting point of just 5MWp installed. Matt was responsible for attracting institutional debt and equity into the business to enable such rapid growth and managing the acquisition and divestment of assets.
Before his role at Blue Energy, Matt was Energy Financing Manager for Falck Renewables, where he was responsible for funding new and existing onshore wind and solar assets in excess of 350MWp across Europe. Prior to this, he was at Ernst & Young's Infrastructure Advisory practise, an early adopter in the renewable energy space, where he advised on multiple clean energy projects globally going back to 2005.
Matt is based out of CEC headquarters in Marylebone (London) and will report directly to the CEO. He will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, including fundraising, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
